Ray Collins played Lieutenant Tragg. During the filming of PM, his health was giving way and his memory fading. He finally had to be replaced in October 1963 after the filming of “The Case of the Capering Camera”. Even though he quit playing Lt. Tragg due to his fading memory and worsening emphysema, Collins' name was kept on the credits at the insistence of Raymond Burr until the end of season 8 in May 1965. This was done not only to help keep his spirits up, but to allow him to continue to receive health coverage from the Screen actors guild. Collins died July 11, 1965.
