TCOT Podcast Episode 060 - Prodigal Parent
Season 1 - Episode 36
Originally aired - June 7, 1958
The Case of the Podcast is a Perry Mason Fan Podcast. We love and enjoy episodes from a tv show from the late 1950’s and early 1960. It’s so old, it was filmed in Black & White.
This is an episode from season 1 that we are choosing at random using a random number generator. We will be choosing our episodes this way season by season. We’re excited by this new process which will give each season a chance to shine.

I could be wrong, but I didn’t see any smoking in this episode, but here are a couple of ashtrays on Perry and burger’s desks. Perry also has one of those ink pen stands and they’re also appears to be a horse. I wonder if it’s from the fan dancer! There was a crystal ashtray at the scene of the murder.

Dee Spills the Tea:
In 1984, Kulp ran unopposed as the Democratic nominee for the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. She was the underdog and ran against the Republican incumbent Bud Shuster in a Republican-dominated district.
Her Hillbillies co-star Buddy Ebsen contacted the Shuster campaign and volunteered to make a radio campaign ad against Kulp. He called Kulp "too liberal". Kulp said "He's not the kindly old Jed Clampett that you saw on the show ... It's none of his business and he should have stayed out of it." She said Ebsen and she "didn't get along because I found him difficult to work with. But I never would have done something like this to him." Kulp lost the election. Kulp told people not to bring up his name around her except in interviews related to the Beverly Hillbillies. They did reconcile shortly before Kulp’s death and after her death Ebsen privately expressed remorse for doing the ad.
